Mason/Dixon is inspired by a northern gal's love for the south, and you'll find our products reflect the things we admire most about both regions. Combining a love for graphic design + handmade, mason/dixon started out as a small side project and turned into a full online retail shop. We're a husband and wife team in our beautiful farm town of Shelton, CT. All of our frames are made in house from reclaimed wood we've locally sourced, and our signs are all custom designed and hand painted.

So we have an office. An "office". I call it the office because that's what it's supposed to be. But it's not. It's that room we all have that doesn't actually get used, unless I need to print something out. It's the room I throw every piece of mail in, all the odds and ends, all the "quick there's surprise guests!" clutter. It's literally piled with everything we don't currently have a place for. This is not an office. I do most of my work on the couch or kitchen table which honestly is very comfortable but not super productive. I'm easily distracted by binge watching Netflix or playing with the dog out in the yard. So I need a real office. A place where everything has a place, a spot where I can work without distractions and have everything I need within arms reach, including the printer. Which leads me to this post. I'm taking over the "office".

Above is my inspiration photo, which took me a very long time to put together because I'm having a serious decor identity crisis. I used to be very farmhouse, very vintage southern farmhouse. I'm not anymore, but the problem is I don't know what I am now. I keep saying I'm "modern Scandinavian farmhouse", which I'm not too sure is an actual style but honestly it's the closest thing I can use to describe the style I'm drawn to now. I'm obsessed with kilim rugs (who isn't?), light woods, wallpapers, black and white prints (mudcloth, again who isn't?!), gold fixtures, green plants, modern accents with a bit of vintage mixed in.

So we're starting this journey together. I wince at the thought of having to post "before" photos of this room because it's so embarassing, but I promise I'll give you a glimpse of what I'm dealing with in the next post! But for now, I'll focus on these inspiration photos and hope that someday soon my "office" looks even remotely something like them..
